I’m fortunate enough to have the means and skills to provide services for people, for free, such as a Mastodon or FreshRSS instance. Currently, I’m considering launching another completely free service. I’m gravitating towards either Pixelfed or Writefreely. Pixelfed would be more labor-intensive but would likely attract more users. Writefreely, on the other hand, would be much easier and cheaper (not only in terms of labor), but I’m unsure how many people are interested in having a blog.

Being off Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter sometimes makes me feel like I’m missing out on something, like being there would make me happier or more connected. But then I realize that I’m not feeling unhappy or disconnected. Even more, I feel much, much better after getting rid of things that made me glued to my phone. It just feels too good to use them; they can’t be beneficial to my mental health if they feel so dopamine-inducing.

If I ever have to ditch Arc, I’ll move to Brave because it’s the only browser that works exactly as I expect. Chrome isn’t it, Firefox doesn’t always work (and the iOS app is really bad), and Vivaldi is just too much to make it like Brave or Chrome. This is where I’m at. Also, I’m using Chrome exclusively for work stuff, and there are literally no issues (apart from it sending all my data to Google instead of keeping it private).
